“Coming Soon! To a National Park near you!” is my idea for a political cartoon. I love political cartoons and think several of the prominent cartoonists have a brilliant way of explaining what is going on around us with a simple picture and few words. This is one of my ideas. If I could only draw… or afford to have someone draw for me…
I have learned an incredible number of things since I have been on this planet, but the Art of Drawing was not one of them. I can draw you a three-view plan of an extension on your house and accompany it with a perspective drawing. I cannot draw a human face… or a squirrel.
I am not afraid of AI
AI is a tool just like a word processor or a hammer. If you learn to use a tool properly, it increases how much you can get done. That works for me since I don’t have some Grinch standing over me counting my keystrokes and expecting me to do more work for the same pay (if you happen to be in that spot, join or start a union). There is no end to the greed of the Parasitic Rich!
AI (an LLM) simply scrapes the internet looking to string relevant words together or assemble a picture from described elements to give you what you ask for. Not different but infinitely faster than how we learn things. It is not Intelligent.
But I am terrified of the people building AI
Think for just a moment about the latest AI scandal. Sam Altman and others were aghast that the AI they were training ‘escaped’ the closed system (no access to the internet) and then broke into other systems trying to sabotage them. Why were they training this AI in a closed system? The answer is simple: It was being trained to break into other systems. Exactly what it did when it escaped. Faux outrage and crocodile tears and all. Why were they training an AI to break into other systems?
The Parasitic Rich have a singular focus: MORE FOR ME because “Too much is never enough.”
To become that rich, they have been and are willing to do whatever it takes and will continue lying, cheating, and stealing to enrich themselves until we make them stop.
